Volunteering in Thurrock

Thurrock is a diverse community where volunteering makes a huge difference to the lives of thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds. Volunteering in Thurrock has two simple objectives; to celebrate the valuable work carried out by existing volunteers and active citizens and also to attract new volunteers to put something back, make a difference and get involved in doing their bit for the Thurrock Community.

Go on, stick your hand up!

Volunteering is delivered through a wide range of organisations, charities and projects in Thurrock. Volunteering opportunities range from sport to arts, from young people through to the elderly. There is something for everyone! We need more people to help with a wide range of projects and opportunities that could involve passing on a skill, becoming a school governor, coaching, catering, practical work, befriending, advice, transport - the list is endless.

Take a look right now at some of the hundreds of ways YOU can get involved - click here and see everything available in Thurrock, or do your own search here based around whatever you'd like to try!

You will be amazed by the sense of satisfaction and personal achievement that volunteering can give you. Volunteers often develop new skills, confidence in different surroundings and also, of course, make new friends. Many volunteers don’t even realize that they are volunteering because it is so rewarding and also part of their everyday lives.

The Volunteer Centre located at the Beehive Centre in Grays can help you get involved. Drop in or give us a call.  We will talk to you about a wide range of volunteering opportunities and the best use of your time. Remember, it is often the smallest contributions that make the biggest difference to the lives of others.
